Announcing exciting news of a partnership between Antibiotic Research UK and MGP Ltd working together to overcome antibiotic resistance

Colin Garner ANTRUK announcements, Get involved

We are excited to announce that Antibiotic Research UK, the world’s first charity tackling bacterial antibiotic resistance has been chosen by MGP Ltd, the UK’s leading publisher of multichannel content and educational projects around clinical guidance, to be MGP’s partner charity for their 25th anniversary celebrations. We are partnering with MGP Ltd as they, like us, believe antibiotic resistance is one of the most pressing problems in today’s medicine. We will be jointly developing and delivering a co-branded campaign to focus on this most pressing of health issues.

The campaign will be targeted at healthcare professionals and will include three main themes:

• Promotion of the Antibiotic Research UK’s Patient Support Programme

• Antimicrobial stewardship

• Fundraising and encouraging everyone to get involved in  hosting a Great British Tea Party – as part of World Antibiotic Awareness Week (18 – 24 November 2019)–to  help us fund research into finding new treatments and supporting patients and their families who have been affected by antibiotic resistant infections.

We will be collaborating on articles and press work to understand current prescribing behaviour and sharing current practices and research updates.

Antibiotic Research UK’s very own Patient Support Officer will be speaking about antibiotic resistance and its impact on patients at the Guidelines Live conference November 19-20 at Olympia, London. We will also be hosting an awareness stand with the aim to speak to as many healthcare professionals as we can across the 2 days. If you are attending please come and see us.

MGP has been promoting best practice in healthcare for 25 years. They have strong working relationships with the key guidance bodies: NICE, SIGN, and independent professional bodies. By working in collaboration they provide educational resources and provide evidence-based content and educational projects on clinical guidance via: Guidelines, Guidelines in Practice, Guidelines for Nurses, Guidelines for Pharmacy, Guidelines Live and Specialised Commissioning

Professor Colin Garner, Founder and Chief Executive of Antibiotic Research UK (ANTRUK) said:

“We are delighted to be working with MGP to help us reach out to their audience of healthcare professionals in primary care, who are potentially the most effective ambassadors we could have, and not just in prescribing and dispensing the correct medication. The surgery, healthcare centre, pharmacy or hospital is at the heart of the community and could prove pivotal in disseminating messages about sensible antibiotic usage and prevention of super bugs. Plus, this partnership will act as a conduit for our new patient support programme which helps provide both advice and information to patients who have a difficult to treat bacterial infection and their relatives. MGP’s reach and influence, together with our expertise in resistance, will allow us to communicate so much more effectively with healthcare professionals and save lives.”
