Having undergone multiple surgical procedures for joint replacements, he understands that effective antibiotics are so important. Ashley commented ‘I am honoured to receive an OBE and that my work for charities including Antibiotic Research UK has been recognised. I am passionate that we need to keep our current antibiotics working for longer and that we need to be finding new ones. My work with ANTRUK is an essential way of engaging with patients, the public and professionals. I will continue to work tirelessly in any way I can to assist the charity meet is goals of research, education and patient support. We need everyone to be generous and ask you to help us by making a donation’.
Professor Colin Garner, the charity’s Chief Executive commented ‘Ashley’s award is so well deserved – he has supported myself and the charity since our formation and his ability to raise large sums of money from his network has meant that we have been able to hit the ground running’.
