We are delighted to announce that the Chief Medical Officer for England, Dame Sally Davies DBE, FMedSci, FRS will give our 2017 Annual Lecture. Dame Sally is one of the prime movers in highlighting the problem of antibiotic resistance to the world. She has been active in raising the profile of bacterial resistance and was instrumental in persuading the then Prime Minister, David Cameron to set up the Review on Antimicrobial Resistance chaired by Lord Jim O’Neill. The Review team published their Final Report in May 2016. As a result of Dame Sally’s efforts, the topic of antibiotic resistance has been raised at the highest levels of national and international organisations including the United Nations.
The Annual Lecture will be given on Wednesday 11 October and will take place in London at a venue to be announced later in the year. Save the date in your diary to hear this Lecture by one of the world’s leaders in antibiotic resistance and its’ health consequences.
