For personal reasons some of which have been widely publicised in the media, Lord Jim O’Neill who was going to be our Keynote speaker at our Inaugural Lecture event on 24 October 2016 has withdrawn from speaking. We are delighted that Ed Whiting OBE has stepped into the breach at short notice. Ed was a PPS to former Prime Minister David Cameron and was responsible amongst other things for driving the Government’s AMR Agenda. He helped to set up the O’Neill AMR Review and was on its Steering Committee. In addition he pushed for AMR to be included on the agendas of recent G7, G8 and G20 meetings. He was also instrumental in the UK Government getting the recent debate and action plan
discussed at the UN General Assembly meeting in September 2016. Ed is currently Policy Director and Chief of Staff at the Wellcome Trust and sits on the Executive Team chaired by the Director Jeremy Farrar. Preceding Ed’s talk, a short video by Lord O’Neill will be played. Full details of the Inaugural Lecture event can be found here
Following Ed’s talk, short talks will be given by two sufferers of AMR – David Battie, one of the originals from the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow and an expert in ceramics and Emily Morris, a young mum with a chronic ESBL E.coli infection.
