About Antibiotic Research UK

Antibiotic resistance is on the rise, both nationally and globally. Bacteria are developing resistance to antibiotics, rendering many treatments useless. Already an estimated 12,000 people die each year in the UK as a result of antibiotic resistant infections with 10 million deaths predicted globally each year from resistant illnesses by 2050.

While COVID-19 is a viral infection, it can open the door to secondary bacterial infections which require effective antibiotics to treat. We need to develop new antibiotics today so we can protect modern medicine and prevent future pandemics.

Our charity, the world’s first to tackle this problem, through research, education and patient support, is growing rapidly. We currently have a vacancy for a home-based freelance fundraiser who will lead our charity’s Trusts and Major Gifts national fundraising programme. This person must have a science background and bring energy, enthusiasm and experience to the role, to help us realise our ambitious goals.

Our Head of Fundraising will manage this role. Together, you will ensure the growth of our income.
