Antibiotic Research UK currently have a fundraising job vacancy in Yorkshire / North East of England (applictations now closed).

About Antibiotic Research UK:

Antibiotic resistance is on the rise, both nationally and globally. Bacteria become resistant to antibiotics, rendering many treatments useless. Already an estimated 12,000 people die each year in the UK as a result of antibiotic resistant infections with 10 million deaths predicted globally each year from resistant illnesses by 2050. We need to develop new treatments today so we can protect the future.

Our charity, the world’s first to tackle this problem, through research, education and patient support, is rapidly growing. We currently have a home-based freelance fundraising job vacancy in the North of England. Our ideal candidate is a dynamic fundraiser to support our charity’s Trusts and Major Gifts national fundraising programme. This person must bring energy, enthusiasm and experience to the role and help us realise our ambitious goals.

The role is for six days per month – with a six month contract period in the first instance, renewable on satisfactory performance and subject to one month’s notice on either side.

Our Head of Fundraising will manage this role. Together, you will ensure the growth of our income.

About you:

You will have at least five years’ experience in a relevant fundraising role with a demonstrable track record of raising significant income from Trusts, Foundations and Major Donors. The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral skills with a strategic approach which maximises income generation. You will provide the highest level of donor care across your funding portfolio.

As a home-based role it is essential that you are able to work independently under your own initiative, and cooperatively as part of the fundraising team. In addition to Trusts and Major Gifts, we also expect that you will assist, where you can other fundraising events, including our flagship annual event the Great British Tea Party, in order to hit agreed national income targets.

You will be resilient, resourceful and flexible. A knowledge of medical research and antibiotic resistance would be helpful. A working knowledge of the Salesforce CRM database would also be advantageous.

  • Research and identifying prospects
  • What makes an effective Trust fundraising proposal
  • Managing a growing portfolio of existing funders and new prospects
  • Donor stewardship steps, to achieve long term partnerships and maximise income
