bionow awardsWe are delighted to announce that Antibiotic Research UK (ANTRUK) has won the Bionow Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) award 2021 in recognition of our Patient Support Service.  See the award ceremony on YouTube.

Our Patient Support Programme was established in 2019. It is the UK’s first dedicated programme to support patients and families suffering with resistant bacterial infections. Patients now have access to confidential support and bespoke information. This unique programme provides a friendly voice to patients suffering from AMR. We also provide a patient voice on the neglected topic of AMR.

Arlene Brailey, Patient Support Team Lead, ANTRUK, commented: “We could not be more delighted to have been awarded this accolade. Our unique patient support service provides essential support to vulnerable patients looking for help. Without public support and recognition of its importance, it would not be possible for us to continue providing this vital service.”

Professor Colin Garner, Chief Executive, ANTRUK, added: “This is fantastic recognition of the crucial work carried out by our patient support team. This service is made possible by both public and corporate (Merck Sharp & Dohme and The National Lottery) donations, so we would like to thank all our supporters. We would also like to thank Bionow for holding an excellent digital awards ceremony and Infex Therapeutics for sponsoring the award.”

The Bionow Awards celebrate the outstanding success and achievements of those who have worked tirelessly over the past year and spotlight the incredible progress that has been made during this challenging period.

Our patient support service is made possible by donations, fundraising, legacies and memberships from the public. If you would like to find out more about antibiotic resistance and how you can support us in fighting this global challenge, please visit our website or get in touch.
